Projects Done for the Community During the Past Years

Each year, the Association undertakes a project for the benefit of the community. In doing so, we seek to identify a pressing requirement that would, in the context of the then prevailing situation, be substantial enough to commit our collective resources towards, but within a scope manageable enough for the Association to complete.

Following are main projects that have been undertaken and completed through the years, as well as smaller pressing and worthy requirements of the community towards which the Association has assisted spontaneously from time to time:

1	Donation of Jaipur limbs, periodically
2	Donation of special refrigerator to store blood at Palaly Army Hospital
3	Donation of a consignment of surgical instruments and dressingsto the Army
4	Donation of bed linen to the Cancer Hospital
5	Donation of playground equipment to the Army Ranketi Nursery School, Panagoda
6	Donation of educational Toys to the Ranketi Nursery School, Panagoda
7	Interior finishing of walls and floor of the Shilpa Home, Narahenpita community room and provision of ceiling fans, kitchen utensils, bed linen, clothes, toys and school books.
8	Donation of the Sri Dalada Maligawa restoration fund
9	Donation of Paul’s Church, Kandy Restoration Fund
10	Donation of cement and squatting pans, dry rations, clothes and school books and equipment to the Ruwanpitiya border village inthe Maduru Oya region
11	Donation of provisions, schoolbooks and writing materials to the children of the Welikanda Maha Vidyalaya Students’ Hostel, in the Maduru Oya region
12	Donation of mattress, mackintoshes, oxygen regulators and apedestal fan to the Childrens’ Ward (No.15B) of the CancerHospital, Maharagama. Distribution of dry rations, sweets, Provided materials andSustagen to the inmates. Painting, tiling, plumbing and fitting of a sink inthe pantry. Provision of tiled tables and chairs of the mothersofthe children to have their meals
13	Training programmes in Montessori Teacher Training, dress making, computer applications, Singer sewing courses, and English classes for war widows and theirchildren, in different parts of the island, including Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and Galle. Also, donation of a sewing machine to a deserving war widow
14	Donation of surgical instruments to the gynecological unit of theMaharagama Cancer Hospital and funding of a proposed counseling programme for cancer patients at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital
15	Donation of pumps to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for use by Thalassaemia patients
16	Donation of intro ocular lenses to the needy through Colombo EyeHospital and Help Age
17	Donation of childrens’ story books to Tsunami affectedchildren in camps
18	Project for provision of playground equipment to tsunami affected children on the East coast (in abeyance due to situation in thecountry)
19	Refurbishing of Sumagi Day Care Centre, Mt Lavinia, for the differently abled children
20	Provision of breast cancer detection kits to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital
21	Provision of medical equipment and drugs to the Pediatric Ward of the Karawanella Hospital
22	Provision of medical equipment and drugs to the Paediatric Ward of the Karawanella Hospital
23	Donation to Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation for purchase of 100 Chairs for LAF Auditorium at Maradana Centre
24	Donation of school uniform material, shoes, school bags and linen to tsunami affected children at the Art of Living Foundation Homes in Batticaloa and Wellawaya
25	Donation of taps and required material for setting up pipe borne drinking water units for the children of U.B. Wanninayake Vidyalaya, Ballalle
26	Donation of a multipurpose para monitor to the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital
27	Donation of essential surgical instruments and an Industrial Washing Machine to the Gynae-Oncology Ward 27 of the General Hospital (Teaching) Kandy
28	Refurbishment of school buildings Damana Maha Vidyalya Ampara, drinking water system for the students, donation of school shoes, socks and library books
29	Donation of a Washing Machine, Kitchen Utensils, persona health care items to Sevana Balika Lama Nivasaya Bibile
30	Refurbishment of Methkakula Pre School in Padipanchawe, Galgamuwa
31	Provided kitchen equipment and other essentials to the Methwela Foundation’s Trinco Home for destitute children and school essentials including uniforms for the Methkekula Pre- School in Galgamuwa
32	Mahawa school- Supply of drinking water (pipelines/Sinks /taps/ tilling) Levelling and preparing the playground. Painting school buildings, desks and chairs /Laptop /Multimedia projector and screen. Gift packs to school children
33	Donation of Water Purification Unit to Chandrikawewa Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya, Embilipitiya, to eradicate kidney disease of the school children
34	Provided Drinking water to Mangalaeliya Junior School (Puttalam)
35	Tree Planting Campaign to restore forest cover in Wilpattu collaboration with the 54^th regiment of the Sri Lanka Army
36	Donation of 1,000 KN95 Face Masks to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila
37	Donation of 03 premium quality Pediatric Sucker Machines to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital
38	Donation of equipment and medicines to Wallasmulla Base Hospital – ICU – 3 Functional Bed, Patient Warmer and Parameter Monitor
39	Refurbishment of the Unit for Post Nata mothers and an isolation room with an attached toilet at Sithmansala, Kandy General Hospital

31	Provided 120 Bags of Cement to concreate the School Car Park and construct the Car Park entrance
32	Refurbished and upgraded the Senior Chemistry Lab with safety precautions
33	Improvements to the Computer Laboratory with a donation of 20 computers
34	Yehara Yethmini Epa was gifted with a Book voucher for obtaining full marks at the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination
35	Donation of 35 Computers, 35 Computer Tables & 35 Chairs and refurbishing the Middle School Computer Lab
36	Donation of a SMART Board to Grade 10
37	Refurbished and upgraded the Junior Chemistry Lab with furnisher and safety precautions
